Marilyn was a widow who enjoyed the company of the Andersons. She looked forward to the picnic every year and to partake in the festivities. Comfort foods are meant to be shared.

The potatoes were prepared with the skin intact. The herbs and spices were grown and harvested from her garden. Most importantly, Grandma Emily and Marilyn spent hours making the rustic potato salad. Care and heart were indeed the ingredients for this comfort food.
